1. Content moderation and the use of AI

There is no entitlement to the publication of posts. We reserve the right to moderate posts, particularly to check whether they are suitable for publication. To ensure a safe environment for all makers, we use automated systems as well as human review to moderate content (images, text, comments):

  • Automated review: Every piece of content you upload is checked by AI-powered software immediately before publication for potential legal violations and breaches of our community guidelines.
  • Human review: A final decision regarding the permanent removal or reinstatement of flagged or AI-disabled content is always made by qualified staff if you lodge an appeal or if a manual review is required.

2. Reporting procedure for illegal content (Notice & Action)

If you come across any content that you believe is illegal or violates our rules, you can report it to us as follows:

  • In the app: Via the options menu (three-dot icon) directly on the post, under "Report post".
  • On the website: Alternatively, you can use our report form. We will send you confirmation that we've received your report, as well as details of our decision and any actions taken.

3. Complaint Management and Redress

If we decide to remove your content or suspend your account, we will inform you of the reasons via email.

  • You have the right to appeal within 6 months of receiving the decision.
  • You will find a direct link to our internal complaint management in every decision email.
  • You also have the right to out-of-court dispute resolution, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant Digital Services Coordinator (dsc.bund.de).

4. Suspension Policy for Violations

We reserve the right to take the following measures to protect the integrity of the community:

  • Illegal content: Publishing clearly illegal content (e.g. criminal content) will result in the immediate and permanent suspension of your account.
  • Violations of community guidelines: For any other violations of our guidelines, you will first receive a warning by email.
  • Repeated and serious violations: Users who repeatedly or seriously violate our guidelines will, after a prior warning, be permanently blocked from using community features.

5. How our recommendation systems work

Our feed helps you find new inspiration. It's sorted based on the following parameters:

  • Personalised feed: If you've enabled personalisation, we'll prioritise content you haven't seen yet, based on your previous interactions (likes, time spent).
  • Standard feed: Without personalisation, the feed is based on a mix of the latest posts and the community's currently most popular content. You can adjust or disable your recommendation settings at any time in your profile settings.

6. Rights to your content

When you share images or text in the community, you naturally remain the copyright owner. However, to keep the community running, you grant us the right to use this content for the app and our marketing channels (such as social media or newsletters). You confirm that you hold the necessary rights to the images (and in particular, that you are not violating anyone else's copyright or personal rights).

7. Protection against misuse of the platform

We take the protection of our community seriously. Users who misuse our reporting systems or complaint channels (e.g. by making systematic false reports) may be temporarily or permanently suspended from these features, following a prior warning.

8. Transparency in advertising and AI

Authenticity is important to us. If you post content that is predominantly AI-generated or serves commercial interests (e.g. AI-generated, paid partnerships for paint, wallpaper, or DIY products), you must clearly label this.

community Guidelines

Welcome to our DIY community! To make sure this remains a space where everyone feels welcome and inspired, we’ve put together a few simple rules. By taking part, you agree to follow these guidelines.

1. Be friendly and helpful

We believe in keeping our conversations respectful and supportive.

  • Respect: Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. Any feedback on other people's DIY projects and results should always be constructive and friendly.
  • No hate speech: We do not tolerate insults, discrimination, bullying, or hate speech of any kind (based on background, religion, gender, etc.). Any such content will be deleted immediately.

2. Focus on DIY and your projects

Our community thrives on your results and creativity.

  • Stay on topic: Only post content related to DIY, renovation, or decorating.
  • No off-topic posts: Political discussions, chain letters, or general advertising don't belong here.
  • Add value: Share your tips and experiences – that way, we can all learn from each other.

3. Copyright and ownership

You must only upload images and text that you own the rights to. Your photos: Please only upload images of your own projects.

  • Third-party content: Posting screenshots of other websites, photos from magazines, or content from other users without their permission is not permitted.
  • Trademark protection: Please make sure you do not infringe on any third-party trademark rights.

4. Transparency: Advertising & AI

We want to see real results.

  • No self-promotion: Commercial self-promotion for your own shops or services is not allowed, unless we have explicitly permitted it (e.g. during themed weeks).
  • AI labelling: If you upload an image that has been significantly created or altered by artificial intelligence (e.g. a visualisation, not a real photo), please label it clearly (e.g. "AI-generated").

5. Protect your privacy

  • Don't share private details (such as full names, phone numbers, or addresses) belonging to you or others in public comments.
  • Don't show anyone in your photos who hasn't given their express consent.

6. How we handle violations

In accordance with the Digital Services Act (DSA), we moderate content as follows:

  • Reporting: You can report any post using the menu (three dots).
  • Moderation: Our AI and our team review reported content. We reserve the right to delete posts that violate these rules.
  • Consequences: For minor violations, we will send you a warning by email. For serious or repeated violations (especially illegal content), we will unfortunately have to permanently suspend your account.
  • Appeals: You will always find a link in our notification email to appeal a decision.
