MissPompadour Adhesion Promoter for Painting Over Silicone
To Seal Silicone is compatible with most standard paint systems. This white emulsion is particularly suited for water-based paints. Use it on all existing silicone joints on doors, window frames, and in sanitary areas. It can also be used on glass seals, for instance on windows. However, due to varying window cleaners, we cannot guarantee adhesion on glass sealants.
To Seal Silicone works on all surfaces where silicone sealant prevents paint from adhering properly. It also helps if your paint is peeling off in unexpected places. This can be caused by accidental, invisible contamination with silicone residue – a thin layer of adhesion promoter will solve the problem.
Simple Application: Apply Silicone Topcoat
First, ensure the silicone surface is dry and free from dust, grease, and release agents. The surface must be cleaned with a standard cleaner. We recommend using MissPompadour To Clean. Do not use soaps or detergents for cleaning, as this will prevent To Seal Silicone from forming a perfect adhesive bridge. Wipe thoroughly with clean water to ensure no residue remains.
The bonding agent is ready to use immediately. Apply the emulsion generously to the dry silicone joint. If the first coat hasn't created a solid colour layer, apply a second coat after the recommended drying time. Its white colour means you can then paint over it with any shade you like. The adhesion promoter can be painted over after approximately 5-6 hours. After To Seal Silicone has dried overnight, it will be moisture-resistant. It is fully cured after 21 days, at which point To Seal Silicone can also withstand mechanical stress.
Painting Over Silicone Joints with MissPompadour To Seal Silicone
For applying the silicone bonding agent, we recommend using a bevelled To Seal 25mm Fine MissPompadour Brush. Its fine bristles make it easy to reach joints in corners too.

To Seal Silicone contains 1,2-Benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one. May produce an allergic reaction. Safety data sheet available on request. Warning! Hazardous respirable droplets may be formed when sprayed. Do not breathe spray or mist. Safe Handling: Keep out of reach of children. Ensure thorough ventilation during application and drying. Avoid eating, drinking, and smoking while using the paint. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water. Clean tools immediately after use with water and soap. VOC: EU limit value for this product (Cat. A/d): 130g/l VOC (2010). This product contains max. 130 g/l VOC. Disposal: Follow local regulations. Do not release into sewage, waterways, or soil. Only completely empty containers should be sent for recycling. Dispose of liquid material residues at the collection point for old paint.
