Areas of application for white wood varnish
The water-based wood varnishes from MissPompadour not only provide excellent coverage, even on dark surfaces. They are also all easy to paint over. White wood paint can be used on wooden furniture, as well as doors and window frames. Panels of wall panelling and a wooden ceiling can also benefit from a coat of white paint.
Or how about redesigning a staircase with white wood paint? Treads, risers, banisters - everything can shine in white. Children's and baby furniture and even children's toys can be embellished with white paint. Or maybe you just want to give a dark picture frame a bright coat of paint. Varnish white can be used on wood in a variety of ways.
Use indoors
White wood paint can of course be used anywhere indoors in all the paint qualities offered by MissPompadour.
If wooden kitchen fronts are to be finished, it is important to use a particularly hard-wearing lacquer quality. In the kitchen, it is best to work with the Eggshell Varnish quality. This varnish is impact-resistant and satin matt. Its smooth surface is easy to clean. Window frames and doors also require a particularly durable varnish.
If a particularly elegant, matt surface is important, or if furniture is to be finished in a vintage style, the Matt Varnish version is recommended.
LittlePomp chalk varnish is a special tip for children's rooms. This soft varnish is completely VOC-free, impact-resistant and washable. It also has a low odour and is harmless to health, so that even pregnant women can work with it without any problems and babies can feel completely at ease. It also impresses with a wonderfully matt, chalky surface.
You can also create completely matt surfaces with the CosyColours chalk paints. The three elegant shades of white in the collection create slightly rustic surfaces that are particularly suitable for an authentic vintage style.
Outdoor use
For outdoor use, we recommend choosing the Eggshell Varnish quality. This varnish has a semi-gloss finish, is weather-resistant and UV-resistant. It can also be used to give garden sheds or fences a bright white colour.
For garden sheds in particular, it can look very pretty to choose a strong wood colour such as Green with Forest or Red with Sweden for the large surfaces, but then paint the window frames and roof edges with white-white varnish. Or maybe you want to repaint the wooden garden furniture, or give a dark brown pergola more brightness with a white colour.
These varnishes are only suitable for surfaces from which water can run off easily. Standing water destroys the varnish.
Do I need a primer under white wood varnish?
First of all, it is important to remove dust, grease and any dirt from the surfaces before painting. The best way to do this is with the mild but effective MissPompadour To Clean.
A primer coat of To Bond & Block creates a barrier between the wood and the paint and prepares the surface perfectly for painting with White.
We generally recommend priming with a primer when using light colours, as the paint will then cover more quickly.
White paint for wood: differences in gloss level
In addition to the Eggshell Varnish paint quality, MissPompadour also offers the Matt Varnish and Little Pomp chalk varnishes. While the chalk varnishes and the Matt Varnish paint quality have a completely matt finish, the Eggshell Varnish is, as its name suggests, semi-matt.
Our wood colours in white tones
Even with wood varnish, not all white is the same. MissPompadour has many different shades of white on offer. The MissPompadour Eggshell Varnish and Matt Varnish v arnishes include shades of white that have very different colour tendencies due to their pigments.
In addition to the very clear White with White, there are also white shades that are given a sunny or fresh look by adding small amounts of yellow pigment. These include White with Sun and White with Ginger, for example, while warm white shades are created by adding small amounts of coloured pigment. These include White with Vanilla and White with Marble. These white tones go particularly well with natural wood, while White with Character has a clear and sober effect thanks to its low proportion of grey pigments.
However, colourful tendencies are also possible. Blue with Snow is a white with very little blue, White with Powder shimmers slightly pink and White with Linden Green shows a slight tendency towards green.
LittlePomp chalk-paint also offers 3 balanced, soft shades of white, the design of which was influenced by child-psychological aspects. LittlePomp White & Bright is a neutral, very light shade of white. White & True has a creamy appearance thanks to a few beige pigments and White & Friendly is warm thanks to a hint of yellow pigments.
While Simply White from the CosyColours Collection is simply white and therefore completely neutral, True White has a small amount of grey for a slightly muted radiance. In addition to a few grey pigments, the fantastic Fresh White also contains yellow colour components that make it look friendly and inviting.
Order white wood varnish from MissPompadour
The fact that MissPompadour varnishes are available in so many different white colour shades often makes it difficult to choose the "right" white. Good thing there are the practical MissPompadour colour cards. Each colour-card can be removed individually from the pack. This allows the different shades of white to be placed next to each other and compared. They can also be pinned to the object that is to be painted so that they can be scrutinised in any light.
If the decision still hasn't been made, our friendly and extremely competent customer advisory service is guaranteed to be able to help. You can reach them almost around the clock by email, WhatsApp and telephone.
Does white wood varnish also cover dark surfaces?
Due to the high opacity of MissPompadour wood paint, white wood paint normally covers after 2 coats. If the wood has extreme stains, it must be pre-coated with a stainblock such as To Bond & Block before applying white furniture paint.
White colours that do not contain pigments, such as White with White or Simply White, do not have as high an opacity as other white varnishes. It may be necessary to apply one or two more coats of colour.
Can MissPompadour wood paint in white be painted over?
A wooden surface treated with white wood paint can be painted over at any time with furniture paint in a different colour shade in all MissPompadour varnish qualities.
