Terms and Conditions for community Use

1. Content moderation and use of AI

There is no guarantee that posts will be published. We reserve the right to moderate posts, specifically to ensure they are suitable for publication. To ensure a safe environment for all creators, we use automated systems as well as human review to moderate content (images, text, comments):

  • Automated checking: All content you upload is checked by AI-powered software for potential legal infringements and breaches of our community guidelines immediately prior to publication.
  • Human review: A final decision on the permanent removal or reinstatement of reported or AI-disabled content is always made by qualified staff, should you lodge an appeal or if a manual review is required.

2. Reporting procedure for unlawful content (Notice & Action)

If you come across any content that you believe to be unlawful or that, in your opinion, breaches our rules, you can report it to us as follows:

  • In the app: Via the drop-down menu (three-dot icon) directly next to the relevant post, under ‘Report post’.
  • Via the website: Alternatively, you can use our reporting form. We will send you confirmation that we have received your report, as well as information about our decision and the measures taken.

3. Complaints Handling and Legal Remedies

If we decide to remove your content or suspend your account, we will inform you of the reasons by email.

  • You have the right to lodge an appeal within 6 months of receiving the decision.
  • In every decision email, you will find a direct link to our internal complaints management system.
  • In addition, you have the right to out-of-court dispute resolution and the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant Digital Services Coordinator (dsc.bund.de).

4. Suspension Policy for Breaches

We reserve the right to take the following measures to protect the integrity of the community:

  • Illegal content: If you publish content that is clearly illegal (e.g. criminal content), your account will be suspended immediately and permanently.
  • Breaches of community Guidelines: For other breaches of our guidelines, you will first receive a warning by email.
  • Repeated and serious breaches: Users who repeatedly or seriously breach our guidelines will be permanently banned from using the community features following a prior warning.

5. How our recommendation systems work

Our feed helps you find new inspiration. Items are sorted according to the following parameters:

  • Personalised feed: If you have personalised recommendations enabled, we’ll prioritise showing you content you haven’t seen yet, based on your previous interactions (likes, time spent on the site).
  • Standard Feed: Without personalisation, the feed is based on a mix of the latest posts and the community’s current most popular content. You can adjust or disable the recommendation settings at any time in your profile settings.

6. Rights to your content

If you share images or text within the community, you naturally remain the copyright holder. However, for the community to function smoothly, you grant us the right to use this content for the app's operation and our marketing channels (e.g., social media or newsletters). You confirm to us that you hold the necessary rights to the images (in particular, that you are not infringing any third-party copyright or personal rights).

7. Protection against misuse of the platform

We take the protection of our community seriously. Users who misuse our reporting systems or complaint channels (e.g. by systematically submitting false reports) may be temporarily or permanently blocked from using these features following a prior warning.

8. Transparency in Advertising and AI

Authenticity is important to us. If you post content that has been predominantly created by AI or that serves commercial interests (e.g., AI-generated content, paid partnerships for paints, wallpapers, or DIY products), you must clearly label it as such.

Community Guidelines

Welcome to our DIY community! To ensure this remains a place where everyone feels comfortable and finds inspiration, we have set out a few simple rules. By participating, you agree to abide by these guidelines.

1. Be friendly and helpful

We maintain a respectful tone.

  • Respect: Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. Criticism of others’ DIY projects and results should always be constructive and friendly.
  • No hate speech: We do not tolerate insults, discrimination, bullying or hate speech (based on origin, religion, gender, etc.). Such content will be deleted immediately.

2. Focus on DIY and your projects

Our community thrives on your results and your creativity.

  • Stay on topic: Post content related to DIY, renovation, or design.
  • No off-topic content: Political discussions, chain letters, or general advertising do not belong here.
  • Add value: Share your tips and experiences – that way, we can all learn from one another.

3. Copyright and Ownership

You may only upload images and text for which you yourself hold the rights. Your photos: Only upload images of your own projects.

  • Third-party content: Posting screenshots of third-party websites, photos from magazines or content from other users without their permission is prohibited.
  • Trademark protection: Take care not to infringe any third-party trademark rights

4. Transparency: Advertising & AI

We want to see genuine results.

  • No surreptitious advertising: Commercial self-promotion of your own shops or services is not permitted, unless we have explicitly allowed it (e.g., during themed weeks).
  • AI labelling: If you upload an image that has been substantially created or altered by artificial intelligence (e.g., a visualisation, not a real photograph), please label it clearly (e.g., ‘AI-generated’).

5. Protect your privacy

  • Do not publish any personal details (full names, telephone numbers, addresses) about yourself or others in public comments.
  • Do not feature people in your photos who have not given their explicit consent.

6. How We Handle Breaches

In accordance with the Digital Services Act (DSA), here's how we moderate content:

  • Reporting: You can report any post using the menu (three dots).
  • Moderation: Our AI and our team review all reported content. We reserve the right to delete posts that breach these rules.
  • Consequences: For minor breaches, we will issue a warning via email. In the case of serious or repeated breaches (particularly those involving illegal content), we will unfortunately have to permanently suspend your account.
  • Appeal: You will always find a link in our notification email to appeal a decision.
