Drying time

The varnish is dust-dry after approx. 1 hour and can be painted over after approx. 2 hours. Sandable after approx. 4 hours

Note: Some types of wood (softwoods, tropical woods, oak) can cause discolouration in light varnish coats due to bleeding of wood constituents. In this case, apply a thoroughly covering coat of MissPompadour To Bond & Block. Can be recoated after approx. 8 hours. If the substrate is highly absorbent or the first coat of primer is discoloured, a second coat must be applied. Wait another 8 hours.

With primer To Bond & Block:

  • High-gloss surfaces
  • Glass
  • Coated metal
  • Lightly loaded tiles and other stone-like substrates
  • Plastic (especially rigid PVC)

Instructions

  1. Masking (optional) & cleaning: Remove dust, dirt and residue from the substrate. Mask off everything that is not to be painted. Please note that the preparation always differs depending on the project.
  2. Priming (if necessary): First apply a rich, thoroughly covering coat of MissPompadour To Bond & Block and note the drying time for your substrate.
  3. Carefully open the can: Carefully remove the clips on the lid with our paint can opener or use a palette knife or screwdriver. Bend the clips away from the bottom upwards. If you bend the clips away from the top of the can, they will pop less. Please note that the clips are under tension and hold your hand over them when removing them.
  4. Stir: Stir the chalk varnish carefully.
  5. Pour the chalk varnish into the paint tray: Pour a little into the paint tray. Do not work directly from the can to keep the contents of the can clean.
  6. Wet the roller or brush: Then wet the roller all around and lightly roll it out in the tray. Make sure that the roller is completely and sufficiently wetted with the varnish. It should no longer have any dry patches. Immerse the brush up to about half of the bristles.
  7. apply the varnish & allow to dry thoroughly: Apply the chalk varnish generously and evenly. For joints, edges, mouldings and narrow areas, use our small pink brush and work in immediately with the roller. Depending on the colour shade and substrate, several coats may be necessary. Observe the recommended drying time.
  8. apply topcoat (optional): The varnish is somewhat rough on the surface due to the chalky matt finish. We therefore recommend a topcoat. An additional layer of To Seal creates a smooth, easy-care and robust surface. CosyColours Wax can be used for a soft finish and colour effects.

FAQ

Is LittlePomp safe for children and pets?

Yes! LittlePomp is toy-safe according to DIN EN 71-3, saliva-proof, antibacterial and VOC free**. It contains no harmful vapours and is therefore perfect for children's rooms, children's furniture and even toys. Pets are also on the safe side with LittlePomp.

Is LittlePomp only suitable for the children's room?

No, you can also use LittlePomp outside the children's room. The varnishes and colours are just as suitable for furniture in the kitchen, hallway or bedroom. They are particularly robust, harmless to health and have an elegant, matt finish - ideal for any home.

Which surfaces can I paint with LittlePomp?

LittlePomp chalk varnish and chalk paint adhere to many substrates such as wood, metal, plastic coatings, plaster, wallpaper and even tiles or glass (after appropriate preparation). It is important that the substrate is clean, dry and free of grease. LittlePomp is not suitable for heavily used, very smooth surfaces.

Do I need to prime before painting?

This depends on the substrate. For untreated wood or stains, priming with To Bond & Block as stainblock is recommended. For smooth surfaces such as glass, high-gloss or plastic, priming with the primer To Bond & Block is recommended.

What is the best way to apply LittlePomp chalk varnish?

It is best to use a varnish roller or a fine brush. You should stir the varnish thoroughly before painting. Our small brushes are perfect for hard-to-reach areas such as corners or mouldings.

What is the shelf life of LittlePomp?

Unopened, the varnish will keep for 24 months if stored in a cool, dry and frost-free place. Once opened, make sure to work cleanly and close the tin tightly so that nothing spoils.
