Teal tile paint: refined and relaxed
Teal is a dark shade between green and blue. It brings to mind deep mountain lakes and often has a fairytale, mysterious aura. At the same time, like all aqua shades, teal always feels laid-back and relaxed. This refined shade combines beautifully with other hues. Gold accents also suit its high-end look.
Can you paint tiles with teal tile paint?
You can paint your tiles in this lovely shade with no problem at all. There are just a few things to keep in mind. It's very important to clean your tiles thoroughly before painting. Every trace of dirt, including dust, grease and limescale, must be removed if the paint is to stick. For this, we recommend the gentle but highly effective MissPompadour To Clean. Be sure to avoid harsh cleaning products, especially chlorine-based ones. They could settle into the rough surface of the grout lines and later ruin your paintwork.
Next, turn your attention to the expansion joints, which are usually made of silicone. Paint simply can't stick to silicone. Use a thin brush to apply MissPompadour To Seal Silicone over the joints. This makes silicone paintable.
Once To Seal Silicone has dried, you can apply the primer MissPompadour To Bond & Block. It creates an even base on any surface and helps your teal coloured paint grip the smooth surface of the tiles. To Bond & Block also gives you a more even colour base, even on patterned tiles.
The paint for your teal tiles
MissPompadour offers a paint that is a proper tile paint. It's called Easy Eggshell! With this tile paint, you get an elegant, satin-matt result. The surfaces are hard-wearing and easy to care for. Grout lines are simply painted over with the tile paint, leaving you with an even, calm surface. Apply 2 coats of paint. The lovely shade only shows its full effect with the second coat.
If you're painting floor tiles, finish off by stabilising your paintwork with MissPompadour To Seal. After all, a floor tile has to withstand pressure, knocks and scratches. This matt topcoat gives you a truly hard-wearing surface.
You can use Easy Eggshell! on wall tiles with no problem. Running water, even in the shower, won't bother the tile paint at all. In the shower, we recommend reinforcing the wall tiles with To Seal as well. Standing water, however, is too much for the paint, as it will break down the paintwork over time. That's why Easy Eggshell! isn't suitable for floor tiles in the shower.
There are only a few tiles that paint won't stick to: waxed or otherwise impregnated tiles usually can't be painted, and neither can tiles with a lotus effect. So make sure your tiles aren't one of the exceptions before you order paints.
Teal tile paint: using it with flair
With paint in teal, you can completely transform the look of your room. This beautiful, rich shade combines wonderfully with other colours. With the great MissPompadour stencils, you can even conjure up an interesting pattern on your tiles. Perhaps you'll pair the teal on your wall tiles with a fresh turquoise and/or a light sandy shade.
Create a feel-good bathroom oasis with teal tiles
In the bathroom especially, teal can create a real spa atmosphere. Perhaps you'll paint your floor tiles in the rich Green with Teal and complement it on the wall tiles with the soft Green with Glacier. Green with South Sea also goes beautifully with teal tile paint. You can paint the ceiling too – every teal tile paint from MissPompadour is also available as a matching wall paint in teal. Combining teal tile paint with a sandy shade such as Beige with Sand is a lovely way to create a Mediterranean feel in your bathroom. Who wouldn't love to shower in Andalusia every morning?
Paint your kitchen splashback teal
Teal suits natural wood kitchens especially well. This shade brings freshness to the room. That's why teal wall tiles are particularly well suited to the kitchen splashback. If your kitchen is light, use a full, intense shade such as Dark Blue with Green on the splashback. You can brighten dark kitchens with a tile paint shade such as Green with Aqua.
Bear in mind that rooms where you cook often develop a light film of grease vapour, which settles on the tiles too. That's why it's especially important to clean every tile carefully in the kitchen. Smooth tiles should also be pre-treated so the paint can adhere better. MissPompadour To Bond & Block is the perfect primer and also helps to cover uneven colour.
Add accents with paint in teal in the utility room & hallway
Does a utility room always have to be grey and white? Why not create a pleasant working atmosphere with a great paint? Reach for tile paint in a beautiful teal shade. With the MissPompadour stencils, you can also print a pattern on every single tile. Combining tile paint in several shades looks very sophisticated and is especially recommended for the entrance area, as dust and dirt from the street show up less quickly. Especially in the entrance area, don't forget to finish off your tile paint with a reinforcing coat of MissPompadour To Seal.
