Pink tile paint: shades for different effects
Before you take on a project like painting tiles, you probably have a few questions about working with tile paint. Will the paint stick to the very smooth surface of tiles? The answer is a resounding yes!
Only a few types of tile won't hold paint. Waxed or otherwise impregnated tiles usually can't be painted, and neither can tiles with a lotus effect. So make sure your tiles aren't one of the exceptions before you order paints. Keep a few other things in mind, and your project will be a success. As always at MissPompadour: Just Paint!
The paint you can use to paint over tiles
MissPompadour offers a paint quality that is fantastic for painting tiles. This tile paint is our Easy Eggshell! The paint has a soft eggshell finish and is available in all 120+ shades, including rosé and pink, of course.
The important thing is to clean your tiles thoroughly first. In the bathroom, all dust, dirt and especially limescale residue must be carefully removed. The best way to do this is with MissPompadour To Clean. This mild cleaner works efficiently and is gentle on your skin. If you want to clean a kitchen splashback, pay special attention to the light film of grease vapour that forms whenever you cook and settles on every surface. Never use aggressive, chlorine-based or strongly alkaline cleaning products. Their residue could settle in the rough grout lines and ruin your tile paint finish.
Silicone joints are often used in bathrooms in particular. And as we all know, paint won't stick to silicone. Luckily, MissPompadour has a helpful primer for exactly this: apply To Seal Silicone to the silicone joints with a brush. After that, you can carry on with the actual primer or paint.
For the tile paint to adhere to the smooth surface of the tiles, a primer must be applied to the surfaces before you use pink paint. MissPompadour To Bond & Block is the right choice here. The primer creates a perfect base for an even colour, even on heavily patterned tiles and soft pink tile paint. This increases the coverage of the tile paint and lets the paint adhere perfectly to floors and walls.
Then the tile paint is applied in two coats. You get an elegant, eggshell-finish surface that is easy to care for. Some surfaces, such as floor tiles, should also be sealed at the end. An extra protective layer of To Seal makes the paint finish even more durable.
From soft pink to vivid pink: tile paint for every room
The colour pink has many facets. Add a little beige or brown pigment to a delicate rosé and you get a soft, light shade like Rose with Peach Blossom. Strong pink tones like Pink with Peony can make a real statement on tiles. Add a little blue to a light rosé and you get a cool pastel tone. Add a generous splash of brown to pink, and you get cosy tones like Rose with Brown, right through to bold dusky pink shades. Grey pigment can also completely transform pink: a soft, feminine shade becomes a sleek, interesting hue.
Using pink tile paint beautifully in the bathroom
Choose the soft, understated light pink of Rose with Warmth for your bathroom tiles to create a beautiful, calm spa atmosphere. Combine it with some of the tiles in black for a nostalgic 1950s look. Pink shades also work well together. Choose light pink tile paint for the wall tiles and add a dark dusky pink on the floor tiles. Brown tones with reddish undertones also go well with pink paint.
Our Easy Eggshell! is splash-proof, so it's a great choice for bathroom tiles. For wall tiles in the shower, we recommend reinforcing them with To Seal, just like floor tiles. Easy Eggshell! can't withstand standing water, though, so it isn't suitable for shower floor tiles.
Add accents with pink tile paint in the kitchen
Pink in the kitchen? Some people flinch at the thought. But painting the splashback in this room with pink tile paint is a great idea. You can also choose a tile paint that matches your wall paint tone on tone, because all our tile paints are also available in wall paint quality. Pink tile paint, and of course pink wall paint, looks especially good with dark natural wood kitchens.
A shade like Rose with Brown brings a retro feel to your kitchen. It doesn't get much classier. Your splashback often gets splashed with water and grease while you cook and wash up, so give the tile paint extra stability there. Use MissPompadour To Seal for this. It doesn't change the shade of your tile paint, but it makes it resistant to mechanical and chemical stress.
Painting hallway tiles pink
Want to give your guests, and everyone who walks through the door, a warm welcome? Greet them with a warm pink. It works as a wall paint and on floor tiles too. Perhaps you could print a pattern onto your tiles using the MissPompadour stencils. You can combine 3 different shades of tile paint for the pattern. That way, you won't see every bit of dirt that gets carried into the house. Just remember to finish off your paint job with To Seal for extra stability. Hallway tiles are exposed to particular wear, and it's important to give floor tiles added protection.
Pink to bright pink: order tile paint from MissPompadour
At MissPompadour, you'll find an attractive selection of rosé shades, from the palest pink to deep, bright pink. The best way to start is to order the MissPompadour colour cards. The postcard-sized cards can be removed individually, so you can pin them up anywhere and see the shades in every kind of light.
An almost white pink shade is, for example, the elegant White with Powder. It's wonderful for large areas if you also want to add bold pink or bright pink accents. Rose with Cherry Blossom contains a little more grey. A more intense shade is Rose with Marshmallow, a rosé that isn't as sugary as its name suggests. Pink with Grey is intense, but softened with plenty of grey pigment.
When you order the paint for your wall tiles or floor tiles, order your painting tools, such as rollers and brushes, at the same time. It saves you a trip to the DIY store and makes shipping cheaper. Our project sets are customisable shopping helpers that make sure you won't forget a single product!
How long does pink varnish last on tiles?
This depends on the wear and tear on the tiles. Stabilising with To Seal will definitely make the surface even harder and more durable.
How well does pink tile colour cover?
Easy Eggshell! from MissPompadour provides excellent coverage. Usually 2 coats are enough to cover old colours.
What colours can I combine pink tile paint with?
All colour shades that contain reddish pigments, like many brown tones, complement pink varnish well. Many shades of grey up to dark anthracite and even black are also suitable. A dark green such as Green with Black can also complement rosé in a sophisticated way.
What effect does pink have as a tile colour?
That depends a little on the shade of pink. A light pink like Rose with Warmth looks delicate and pastel. The intense, warm Rose with Brown is a friendly power colour. And Rose with Cherry Blossom is a vibrant statement colour.
Which furniture goes well with pink tiles?
Black or light grey furniture goes well with pink tiles in the bathroom. The entire natural colour palette harmonises with a warm shade of pink, from a light beige to a chocolate brown. The bold can combine an intense pink with orange, violet or dark blue.
Can you combine pink tiles in a modern way?
Of course, pink works beautifully with modern, clean-lined furniture.
Does pink fit in the bathroom?
Pink fits well in a bathroom, as the colour shade is created from white and red - white is the colour of purity, red of energy. This makes pink a refreshing, awakening, yet gentle colour!
