Turquoise tile paint: Fresh and vibrant

Want to give your room a fresh, lively look with eye-catching colours? Then try paint in the shade turquoise. Turquoise sits between blue and green. In turquoise coloured paint, cool blue and warm green make a perfect match. These shades are especially lovely for a bathroom. Turquoise blue, such as MissPompadour Dark Blue with Green, and turquoise green, such as Green with Lagoon, both belong to the aqua family. They work particularly well in rooms meant to have a maritime chic.

Painting tiles turquoise: is it really possible?

Wondering whether it's really that easy to paint a tiled surface? Yes, with the right tile paint it's no problem at all! There are a few things to keep in mind before you apply the tile paint, though.

First, the tiles need a thorough clean. For the job, we recommend the mild but effective MissPompadour To Clean. Remove all dust, dirt, grease and limescale from the tiles. Avoid harsh, chlorine-based or strongly alkaline cleaning products. Residue from these could settle in the rough grout lines and later ruin your turquoise paint finish.

Many tiles have silicone expansion joints, and paint can't adhere to silicone. So seal the silicone joints with a suitable primer. Simply brush To Seal Silicone onto the silicone with a thin brush.

Next, apply a primer coat to the whole area you're going to paint. Using To Bond & Block helps the paint adhere, even on very smooth surfaces. The primer also gives your paint better coverage, especially if you're painting over patterned tiles.

Once the surfaces are dry, you can start applying your turquoise tile paint. Paint the larger areas with rollers and use a brush for the grout lines. When the first coat is dry, apply a second coat. Two coats make the paint more robust and bring out its beautiful satin finish.

To finish, add an extra protective layer on heavily used surfaces such as floor tiles. MissPompadour To Seal makes your paint finish even harder and more resistant to knocks and scratches.

The paint for turquoise tiles

MissPompadour offers a paint quality that's perfect for painting tiles. This tile paint is called Easy Eggshell! There's a wide choice of shades, so you're sure to find the ideal paint among the over 120 shades. The tile paint is hard-wearing and resistant to scratches. It's easy to care for and copes well with being cleaned using cleaning products. Its soft satin finish shows off turquoise shades beautifully. Each shade of the tile paint is also available as a matching turquoise wall paint, so you can combine coloured paint on turquoise wall tiles with your walls or ceiling.

MissPompadour tile paint has excellent water resistance. Water running down wall tiles won't harm it, especially if you finish your paintwork with To Seal as well. Just avoid standing water, which means it isn't suitable for floor tiles in the shower or for outdoor use. Easy Eggshell! sticks to almost all tiles, with a few exceptions: waxed or otherwise impregnated tiles usually can't be painted, and neither can tiles with a lotus effect.

From turquoise blue to turquoise green: Versatile ways to use tile paint

Turquoise doesn't just create a wonderful spa-like feel. Especially alongside bright blue and brilliant white, it can put us in a holiday mood. Anyone who has ever been to Andalusia will remember the gorgeous painted tiles in these colours. With MissPompadour stencils, you can easily create these almost oriental patterns yourself.

Turquoise tile paint for a seaside feel in your bathroom

Would you like a bathroom that puts a smile on your face the moment you step in each morning? Then paint at least some of your wall tiles in a beautiful turquoise shade like Green with Ocean. Add a shade like Beige with Sand and you've got a real holiday feel in your bathroom. You can also design your floor tiles with turquoise and light brown shades. In the bathroom, though, don't forget to carefully remove any limescale before painting and to finish your paintwork with To Seal.

Painting kitchen tiles turquoise

If your kitchen has a tiled splashback, you can make it stand out with a fresh turquoise blue. Why not combine turquoise coloured paint with natural brown wood tones? A shade like Green with Lagoon adds a bit of pep to any kitchen. Perhaps you could add a few bold orange accents too. In the kitchen, it's important to carefully remove every trace of grease so the primer and paint can grip. And since a tiled splashback is often cleaned with cleaning products, it makes sense to give the surface extra stability after painting by applying MissPompadour To Seal.

Add turquoise accents to floor tiles

It's not just for the bathroom: you can also decorate your hallway floor tiles with turquoise green or turquoise blue paint. Here too, it's a good idea to work with stencils and several colours. That way, dust from the street is less noticeable. At MissPompadour, you'll find a great selection of interesting stencils and just the right paint shades. Perhaps you could combine the velvety Green with Teal with the vivid Green with Turquoise? Finally, finish off the paint on the floor with MissPompadour To Seal.

Order turquoise tile paint from MissPompadour

MissPompadour offers a lovely selection of turquoise paint. First up is the beautiful shade Green with Turquoise. It has the colour of the semi-precious stone that gave the shade its name. Green with Ocean is also an elegant turquoise shade, and its grey undertones make it look a little more muted. The bold Green with Lagoon is intense, a shade that works best used subtly on a wall. The light Green with Glacier is very soft, and the fresh Green with South Sea is a little greener but just as light.

The best place to start is with a colour card set. The postcard-sized colour cards can be taken out individually. You can pin them up anywhere and compare them in any lighting. When you order your paint, it's a good idea to order tools such as brushes and a paint roller at the same time. That saves you the extra delivery costs or a trip to the DIY shop. If you have any further questions, feel free to get in touch with our customer service team by email, WhatsApp or phone. Our expert team is on hand before, during and after your project!

How well does turquoise varnish cover?

Turquoise varnishes from MissPompadour cover very well. However, you should still apply the varnishes twice, as the colours then shine particularly beautifully and the durability is increased by the double layer thickness.

How long does turquoise tile paint last on the floor?

There is no general answer as to how long turquoise varnishes will last on the floor. The durability depends on the wear and tear on the floor. Please note that our Easy Eggshell! is splash-proof, but does not tolerate standing water. In any case, we recommend stabilising the varnish coat on the floor with MissPompadour To Seal at the end.

What effect does turquoise have on tiles?

Turquoise colours always have a fresh and lively effect. This is why they are particularly suitable for bathrooms and wellness areas.

Is turquoise a warm or cold colour?

The greater the proportion of green pigments in turquoise, the warmer its radiance. Grey pigments can also mute a turquoise tone.

Which colours go well with turquoise tiles?

Many natural tones are a good fit, such as Beige with Sand, Beige mit Leinen or Brown with Nougat. But used sparingly, a bold orange or intense yellow can also create interesting accents alongside turquoise shades.

Can you repaint turquoise tiles?

Yes, the MissPompadour tile paint can be painted over without any problems. Even an intense, strong turquoise can be painted over with light colours or white. This is because the varnishes from MissPompadour have a very high opacity.
