Paint Your Tiles Green: Freshness and Harmony for Your Home

Shades of green are among the most popular interior colours, in Germany at least. Green stands for freshness and nature. But there's no such thing as "the one" green. Greens vary hugely, so you can create very different moods with this colour. At MissPompadour you'll find plenty of attractive green shades that work as tile paint and help you give your home a new look. It makes no difference whether you want to paint wall tiles or floor tiles.

Painting Tiles with Green Tile Paint: Does It Really Work?

Before you think about applying tile paint, you probably have a few questions. Can you actually paint tiles? Will tile paint stick to smooth wall tiles? Yes, it really works as long as you keep a few things in mind.

First, it's important to clean every tile carefully before painting. In the bathroom, you need to thoroughly remove not only dust, grease and dirt, but also limescale left behind by the water. Only then can primer and paint get a good grip. The kitchen is a room where you cook, so a light film of grease vapour always settles on the tiled splashback. Here, too, every wall tile needs a thorough clean. The best choice is the mild cleaner MissPompadour To Clean. Whatever you do, avoid aggressive cleaners that contain chlorine or are strongly alkaline. They can settle in the rough grout lines and damage the paint on your wall tiles.

Next, apply a primer. To Bond & Block creates a perfect base for your paint and promises good adhesion for your paint job. Tile paint normally won't stick to silicone. If you apply the primer To Seal Silicone thinly to the silicone joints, you can paint them together with the wall tiles.

Can the tile paint cope with the wear and tear a floor has to withstand? On the floor, you should give your green tile paint extra stability with To Seal as well. The topcoat makes the paint on your tiles even sturdier and resistant to cleaning products. Carry on using gentle cleaners for day-to-day cleaning, and you'll enjoy your new paint for a long time!

Pale Green to Deep Green: The Tile Paint for Painting Your Tiles

The paint quality Easy Eggshell! isn't just suitable for wood, stone and marble, plastic and metal. It's also perfect as a paint for tiles. It's emission-minimised according to VdL-RL 01, too. It's hard-wearing and washable.

Easy Eggshell! sticks to almost all tiles, with just a few exceptions: waxed tiles or tiles impregnated in any other way usually can't be painted, and neither can tiles with a lotus effect.

This tile paint comes in numerous shades, including many interesting greens. You can choose from soft greens like Green with Birch or Green with Glacier, as well as an intense deep green like Green with Forest.

Painting Tiles: Green for Every Room

Green suits just about any room. Green wall tiles can give a bathroom a whole new style. A beautiful shade of green makes a great impact and brings calm to the bathroom, especially if the tiles on the wall or floor were patterned before. The pattern on a wall tile simply disappears under the paint. An elegant turquoise-green like Green with Ocean adds an extra burst of freshness to the room. Complete your new, nature-inspired bathroom look with a few natural wood accessories and some houseplants.

Please note that our Easy Eggshell! isn't suitable for painting floor tiles in the shower, as the tile paint can't cope with standing water. If you paint the wall tiles in the shower, you should also coat them with To Seal after painting.

A Green Splashback in the Kitchen

If you have a kitchen with natural wood fronts, a green tiled splashback looks especially attractive. Brown and green together are simply unbeatable. But green wall tiles also go well with white kitchen units. In that case, a darker shade of green like Green with Teal or Green with Moss can make the units stand out. So with little effort, just by painting a few tiles in new shades, you can create a completely new look in your kitchen.

Lively Green on Tiles in the WC

Just like in the bathroom, you can brighten up the tiles in the toilet with green paint. How about painting the tiles and walls in the toilet in the same shade? All MissPompadour greens are available not only as paint for tiles, but also as green wall paints. Why not paint the ceiling at the same time?

Be bold and go for a dark green, maybe even the nearly-black shade Green with Black. Or choose one of the expressive greens, like Green with Lagoon or Green with Emerald. With the right lighting and a few golden accessories, you can create a fantastic atmosphere.

Brighten Up Utility Rooms: Paint Wall Tiles Green

With a fresh, light green like Green with Lime or Green with Mint on the wall tiles and the floor, you can add a cheerful touch to working in the utility room. Perhaps you could take your inspiration from flower meadows and decorate the odd wall tile with touches of yellow or red.

The MissPompadour stencils are also great for combining different colours and bringing life into the room with their patterns.

Plenty of Choice: Buy Green Tile Paint at MissPompadour

If you're planning to give your tiles a new look with tile paint in a different shade, it makes sense to order a MissPompadour colour card set. The postcard-sized colour cards can be removed individually. That way, you can lay all the green shades side by side and compare them in every kind of light.

At MissPompadour you'll find a wide choice across the green spectrum, from soft and light to rich turquoise tones and deep green. The soft Green with Glacier is very light, for example. Green with Glass impresses with its warmer undertones, and the intense Green with Frog is properly vibrant. Green with Jade is refined and a little cooler. With lots of brown undertones, the dark Green with Mud is sure to delight. Two lovely greens with plenty of soft grey undertones are the lighter Green with Grey and the more intense Green with Moss. And if you like it dark, you'll find your favourite green in Green with Forest. But that's far from all – our list of green paints is a long one!

When you order your paint, don't forget to add primer, a roller and brushes to your order. That saves you a trip to the DIY shop. In our project sets you'll find all the products you need listed. You can tailor the sets to suit you, so you won't forget a thing! If you have any further questions, just get in touch with our customer service. Our knowledgeable team is happy to support you with advice and practical help for your project!

How long does green tile paint need to cure?

Our tile lacquer is touch-dry after approx. 4-5 hours. The paint is fully dry and hard-wearing after 14 days.

Can you paint all tiles green?

There are only a few exceptions: tiles that have been waxed or sealed in some other way usually can't be painted, and the same goes for tiles with a lotus effect.

Can you also paint a tiled floor with tile paint?

Yes, but you should finish off the paintwork by stabilising it with To Seal. There's one exception: as Easy Eggshell! can't cope with standing water, we'd advise against painting floor tiles in the shower.

How long does green paint last on bathroom wall tiles?

That depends partly on how much wear and tear the paint takes, and partly on whether you've finished the surface with To Seal. That said, quite a few customers have told us they painted 2 or more years ago and the paint is still holding up beautifully.

How does green tile paint look in a bathroom?

The effect of green tile paint depends a lot on the shade of green. For a fresh feel, go for any green with blue undertones. Grey undertones make green paint look calmer, while a green with yellow pigments gives an energising result. Dark shades often make tile paint look elegant and opulent.

Which furniture goes with green tiles?

Furniture made from natural wood goes especially well with it. Black, anthracite and white shades also look great with green tile paint.

Is green tile paint on trend?

Shades of green are timeless hues, and using them never depends on passing trends – they're always a great choice!

Does green go well with white tiles?

Shades of green look wonderful when combined with white tiles.
